Getting Started with TVO ILC Is Easy

Can I enroll with TVO ILC?

You can enroll with TVO ILC if you meet the following criteria:

You must be at least 14 years of age or will be turning 14 by December 31 of this school year (i.e., anyone born in or earlier).

You are not currently enrolled in a high school in Ontario, Canada. If you are currently enrolled, please contact your Guidance Counsellor at your high school about enrolling with ILC.

Note: If you've applied to TVO ILC or taken a course with us in the past, you do not need to re-enroll. Please login to the TVO ILC Portal to continue your application or purchase additional courses.

Are you taking a TVO ILC course as a stand-alone credit (or one of a small number of stand-alone credits) with a goal to cover mandatory prerequisite credits, upgrade marks, or address a personal interest? Complete these 5 simple steps and you’ll be ready to start your course(s) and move towards your chosen goals.

Go to the Explore Courses page. Browse courses. Browse courses. Select one or more you are interested in applying for.

Enter your basic personal information

Proceed to Apply Now to start an application. Note that information entered here cannot be changed later in the process, so please ensure accuracy.

Pay your fee(s)

Pay your fee of $500 per course. Accepted payment methods are VISA, Mastercard, American Express, and PayPal. Please be advised all fees and payments are non-refundable.

TVO ILC offers subsidized rates to members of the Canadian Armed Forces and their dependents, as well as Indigenous applicants who live in Canada. See the Additional Documents section on this page for more details.

Confirm your student information and upload the documents needed

Once your payment is successful, you will receive access to the TVO ILC Portal to confirm your details and upload your personal and educational documentation to support your application.

Please pay careful attention to what is written below so you have a copy of what you need ready to upload.

Mandatory documents for all applicants:


1. Government ID

Provide one of the following:

  • Passport
  • Birth Certificate
  • Other Government-Issued Identification
2. Recent Photo
  • Full-colour passport-size photo less than six months old that has been notarized on the back, which may be used for identity verification
Additional documents

Applicants 14-20 years of age
  • A record of your school transcripts translated into English

First Nations, Métis and Inuit applicants
  • Voluntary Indigenous Self-Identification

  • Option to indicate on your application that you are an Indigenous person of First Nations (Status/Non-Status), Métis or Inuit ancestry
  • Option to provide supporting documentation. We do NOT require government documents or any other official documentation indicating Indigenous ancestry.
Applicants claiming Canadian Military Status
  • Official proof of military status
  • CF1 Card or Canadian Forces Certificate of Service.

After submitting your documents you will immediately have access to the courses you have purchased from the ILC Portal.

Your application and transcript will be reviewed and assessed

A TVO ILC guidance counsellor will review your academic record (if applicable); and recommend which courses you need to take to earn your high school diploma.

Please watch your email for a response with further instructions approximately 5-7 days after uploading and submitting your supporting documentation.

Choose your courses and get started!

Once your application is confirmed, login to the TVO ILC Portal and choose your courses as recommended by your TVO ILC guidance counsellor. Afterwards, you can immediately start your course work!
